In 2007 Sargasso started a food revolution in Morgantown, bringing fine dining to a city that had previously not seen anything like it.

Locally owned and operated, we strive to provide the premiere dining experience in the region by utilizing ingredients of the highest quality from local to international with each season. During dinner service, we offer both a multi-course upscale dinner menu and a bistro menu with plates under $15. Our culinary team is led by a duo of experienced chefs -European-trained Austrian native Chef Thomas Metzler and local talent Chef Dave Halterman.

We are honored by Wine Spectator for having one of the most outstanding wine lists in the world.   • Chef Thomas Metzler

    Chef Thomas Metzler is from Vorarlberg, Austria where he grew up cooking with his grandparents. Spotting potential early on, his uncle suggested he apprentice at a local restaurant. There, he fell in love with the art of cooking and went on to graduate from the culinary school Schloss Hofen in Lochau. He studied music in the UK before moving to the United States and joining the Sargasso team. Chef Metzler’s unique perspective yields creative dishes inspired by his European roots and local ingredients.
